-- Summary --
I made this model during my time as the Lead 3D Artist on a student game studio team. All modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation was done by me, with the design shaped by team feedback and provided references.
This aircraft is intended to act as the main hero-asset fighter for a 3rd-person aerial combat game inspired by Ace Combat 7, and optimized for the Unreal Engine. The game is still in development, but is planned to release.
Due to scope and time constraints, the model serves as both the player and enemy aircraft, with "red vs. blue" color texture variants to distinguish them rather than making multiple separate aircrafts.
-- Design --
The silhouette blends an F-14 Tomcat and A-10 Warthog with VTOL elements. Unique mechanical details include a rotating double-barrel rocket launcher in the fuselage (inspired by Halo's SPNKR), a revolver-style cylinder reload mechanism, and landing gear that folds inward through rotating joints rather than a standard retraction. The rig supports a full VTOL transition sequence from grounded, to hovering, to full forward flight.
